2021 Porsche Macan Kicks 375 Horses

The Porsche Macan is an absolute beauty. This luxury crossover SUV gets its name from the Javanese word that translates to 'tiger' - a fitting name, no doubt. In production since 2014, this car comes in multiple variants like the Macan, Macan S, Macan S Diesel, Macan GTS and the Macan Turbo.

What powers it?

The latest among these is the upcoming model, the second-generation, 2021 model of the Porsche Macan. Depending on where you get your car news from, you may find conflicting information about what kind of powertrain the new Macan will have.

Apparently, Porsche is releasing a new Macan that's a purely electric vehicle. While this is true, some sources say that Porsche will continue to produce traditional, internal combustion engine Macans for at least a few more years. Car journalists forecast that Porsche is going to wait and see the kind of reception that the electric version gets from buyers. In a few words, the fate of the combustion-engine version will hinge on the buying public’s reaction.

Whatever the case may be, let's take a closer look at the upcoming Macan in its traditional form. As mentioned before, the Macan is a 5-door luxury crossover SUV. It has a front-engine, all-wheel-drive configuration with a 7-speed PDK transmission, which comes with automated dual-clutch and paddle shifters for your convenience.

Most impressive among all the trim levels for the upcoming Macan is the Porsche Macan GTS. This version brings out the best of both worlds, and its performance is just as mind-blowing as its looks!

This model carries a 2.9-litre V6 engine with a maximum output of 375 horsepower (about 276 kW) and 383 lb-ft (or 519 Nm) of torque. Just imagine: this car can go from 0 to 97 km/h in only 4.7 seconds! What’s more, it handles like a dream, thanks to how Porsche was able to lower the new version by 15 millimetres.

It's got the look!

Everything about the car's aesthetics is top-shelf, too. Being the GTS trim, this version is the most sporty-looking of them all. The first things you'll notice are standard LED lights that you'd find on Macans, as well as new LED light-bar infused 3D tail lamps on the back. The corner grilles have been revised, and it even has a new grille insert to boot.

The 2021 Porsche Macan looks exceptional no matter at which side you're looking. On its sides, the car sports satin-gloss black-painted 20-inch RS Spyder alloy wheels, complemented by brake callipers painted red, also.

From the back, the car doesn't have too many aesthetic changes from previous models. However, it does carry a new double exhaust system and body-painted bumper. You can probably guess what the colour scheme on the back is, as well!

If you're the kind of driver that can't get enough of black and red, this car is going to make you very, very happy.

Inside, you get a great mix of luxury, sportiness, and modernity. The first thing that catches your eye is the GTS logos on every headrest in the car. Once you climb in, you'll feel the exceptional comfort offered by the Alcantara upholstery on the seats, all of which are adjustable in eight different ways. Even the primary instrument cluster's centre-mounted tachometer dial sports more of that charming red theme, fitting in perfectly with the rest of the car.

Finally, once you're comfortably seated, you can then indulge your hands in the feel of the exceptional sporty steering wheel that's unique to the GTS.

When is it coming?

In some parts of the world, the 2021 Porsche Macan is already available for pre-order. Right now, as this article is being written, a quick check of the Porsche Australia website shows no signs of the Macan 2021 at all. There's also little indication anywhere else about the 2021 Porsche Macan in Australia.

I wouldn't worry too much about it yet. Some automotive journalists have pointed out how Porsche is known to stagger its new releases anyway. The Macan has always been a part of Porsche's lineup in Australia, and it should only be a matter of time before they decide on dates and prices for the 2021 models.
