The Audi RS Q3 is a high-performance variant of the Q3 subcompact luxury crossover SUV, first revealed at the 2013 Geneva Motor Show. When released, the RS Q3 had no competitors as it was the first subcompact SUV to feature high-performance powertrain.
Under its hood is a 2.5L TFSI inline-five turbocharged petrol engine with a power output of 228kW (306hp) and 420Nm of torque. It teams up with a 7-speed S-Tronic transmission with sport mode, which is capable of reaching the limited top speed of 250km/h, and 0-100km/h acceleration in 5.5 seconds. The ventilated front and rear disc brakes with black 8-piston calipers reign in the power, while the 4-link independent suspension and electro-mechanical rack-and-pinion steering have now drastically improved handling compared to the rather dull Q3.
Some of the exterior changes from the standard Q3 include 19-inch alloy wheels with (optional 20-inch wheels), matte aluminium finish on the accents and roof rails, gloss-black honeycomb grille, rear diffuser, roof spoiler, modified exhaust tips, Xenon plus headlights, LED tail lights, eight color options, and an RS badging.
The interior was not left out either, as it also gained sporty accents including the addition of different gauges and pointers, RS badging, aluminium-look pedals, Alcantara/leather sports seats with RS Q3 logos, RS driver info system, and a 10-speaker stereo system.
The equipment package is packed with many luxury features as well and has the following inclusions:
Dual Front Airbags Package, Airbag Knee Driver, Anti-lock Braking, Auto Climate Control with Dual Temp Zones, Adjustable Steering Wheel - Tilt & Telescopic, 19-Inch Alloy Wheels, Brake Assist, Body Coloured Exterior Door Handles, Cruise Control, Chrome Exhaust Tip(s), Chrome Grille Surround, Central Locking Remote Control, Chrome Roof Rails, Daytime Running Lights - LED, Dusk Sensing Headlights, Electronic Brake Force Distribution, Electronic Differential Lock, Electronic Stability Program, Fog Lights - Front, Head Airbags, Leather Steering Wheel, Leather Upholstery, Multi-Function Control Screen, Parking Distance Control Rear, Power front seats, Power Mirrors With Indicators & Folding, Power Steering, Power Windows, Rear Lights - LED, Rear Spoiler, Rain Sensing Wipers, Reversing Camera, Rear View Mirror Auto Dimming, Side Airbags, Sport Seats, Sound System with 14 Speakers, Sports Suspension, Traction Control System, Tyre Pressure Monitoring System, and Xenon Headlights
With the facelift of 2015, the power of the 2.5L engine was raised by 29 horsepower and 22Nm, to a total of 250kW (335hp) and 450Nm of torque. The gearbox was modified to improve the smoothness and speed of transitions. These changes resulted in 0-100km/h acceleration in 4.8 seconds, rivaling the now competing Mercedes-Benz GLA 45 AMG.
