Beyond COVID-19: Cars Worth Waiting for in the Next Five Years

Disruption in the supply chain of various products was inevitable due to the rapid spread of the coronavirus, and the automotive industry is no exception. The entire world is worried about the duration and severity of this health crisis and its impact on economies. The plunging supply and demand has affected the industry in ways never experienced in centuries.

Economists believe that the management measures designed to contain the spread of COVID-19 has affected businesses and industries more than coronavirus itself. Lockdowns around the world have completely changed the way of doing things as we know it. Panic and uncertainty are commonplace, discouraging people from spending. In general, demand for new vehicles has decreased, including corporate entities because most of the companies are scaling back their capital spending.

On the bright side, however, we’re seeing China getting out of the COVID-19 pandemic and showing signs that the world will open in the third quarter of 2020. We’re optimistic that the year 2021 will be kinder to the auto industry. A continuous emphasis on high-performance and electric vehicles will undoubtedly reshape the industry. The list below will give you a glimpse of what lies ahead.

Top 7 Cars Worth Waiting for from 2021 to 2025

1-Sedan from Lamborghini

We have heard rumours that Lamborghini is planning to launch a sedan in its lineup of vehicles. The pandemic has made it difficult to make accurate predictions about upcoming cars, but experts anticipate that the modular platform of this sedan would be like Audi A7 and Porsche Panamera.

2-Next-Generation Dodge Challenger

The Dodge Challenger and Charger have been ruling the auto market for many years and will continue to do so for a few more years through its next-generation models. The FCA boss has hinted that Dodge will adapt a track-focused design for its next-generation Challenger and retain its retro vibe. Launching year will most likely be 2023.

3-Infiniti QS Inspiration

Another car that may debut in the next five years is Infiniti QS Inspiration. This tall, powerful, and sharply-styled electric vehicle was first showcased in 2019 at the Shanghai Motor Show. There is no doubt that the launch of the sedan will bring a new styling language for the Infiniti brand. The company has already clarified that it will launch QS Inspiration in China. Its arrival in the US and other regions in the world is highly possible because the Chinese brands will seek customers after the coronavirus outbreak ends.

4-Nissan GT-R R36

The “expect something soon” statement from Nissan indicates that the company is working on a new model. The GT-R R35 has been around for ages, and now the company is planning to debut GT-R R36, a hybrid power sedan. We expect the launching of a fully electric version in the coming years.

5-Mazda Sports Car

The discontinuation of the RX-8 from the Japanese brand is a hint towards the launch of an upgraded RX-9. A recent rumour suggests that this sports car will feature a turbocharged inline-six engine. Earlier leaks said that a rotary engine would be used for this model. If spies were to be believed, the RX-9 is supposedly well in the development phase as of this writing.

6-Toyota Corolla GR

Toyota, the world leader in auto manufacturing, may also launch Corolla GR to maintain its top-selling rank. The success of the Yaris GR could hasten plans for this model which would be using the same engine. The European and North American markets will receive the same version of Toyota Corolla GR, and we’re optimistic that Toyota will also release the model in Australia.

7-Mercedes-Benz EQE

Mercedes-Benz is set to launch EQE, a fully-electric vehicle. The company is working on the launching of the EQE model after the success of EQC, EQA, and EQS models. As the name suggests, the vehicle will be the electric E-Class. It will feature an air suspension and four-wheel drive and would be the latest vehicle equipped with safety gear. The company has said nothing about how far it will go in a single charge, but we expect nothing less than a highly-optimised battery and a class-leading range.
