Kia Sportage

The first-generation Kia Sportage was a product of a joint undertaking between Ford, Mazda, and Kia, with the use of Ford and Mazda’s technology and Kia’s facilities. Thus, the Sportage was developed from a Mazda Bongo platform with a sporty look and off-road capability. July 1993 saw the launching of Sportage in Asia. From 1995 to 1998, the Sportage was built by Karmann Gmbh in Germany for the European market. Meanwhile, the South Korean production facility continued to serve the rest of the global market.

Ford Telstar

The Ford Telstar was sold in Australia, Asia, and Africa. This car was based on the Mazda Capella/626 with the only differences being the engine size, styling, and some specifications. It was launched in 1982 in Japan, and a year later it was unveiled in Australia. It replaced the Ford Cortina in Australia and was available as a five-door hatchback or a sedan.

Kia Stinger

The Kia Stinger itself was co-designed by Schreyer and Kia’s chief designer Gregory Guillaume, who said that the car was partly inspired by the smooth curves of the Coca-Cola bottle. It debuted at the 2017 North American International Auto Show in Detroit and earned the admiration of car enthusiasts for it's minimalist and gran Turismo features.

After a major redesign, the sedan received some updates, while the hatchback was replaced by a liftback variant. Holden Captiva

Holden Calibra

The Calibra was introduced to the market to pitch against Japanese sports cars in 1989 until well into the 90s. Its running gear was based on the Vectra A car model, which came out in 1988. It was introduced as a 3-door hatchback with front-engine front-wheel-drive layout, but was later also offered with four-wheel drive in the following year.

Ford Territory

One interesting fact about this car was that it was intended to replace the Falcon Wagon, which was at the time popular with fleet buyers. Ford’s thought that the Territory’s fleet sales would outnumber the Wagon’s, but this was not to be because the Territory appealed to families more than it did to fleet buyers.

Holden Nova

The Australian government’s Button Car Plan pushed for model-sharing and badge engineering amongst automakers to rationalize production resources and reduce import tariff costs. Through the United Australian Automobile Industries (UAAI), Toyota and Holden were able to locally manufacture their two respective car marques with essentially one model, save for some minor style distinctions.
