The rebadged Great Wall V240, also known as the Great Wall Wingle, is a pickup truck manufactured by Great Wall Motors since 2006. It has since survived four generations. It was renamed Wingle 3 in 2005, the same time that Wingle 5 was introduced. Wingle 6 debuted in 2014, with the more recent Wingle 7 succeeding it in 2018. In Australia, these models wear the V240 nameplate.
Wingle 3 (2006-2010)
The V240 was not available in Australia until 2009, becoming the first-ever Chinese-built pickup truck to be introduced in the country together with another Great Wall pickup, the SA220.
The body of the V240 was based on the Isuzu Rodeo, which had been a GM/Isuzu project. Its front-end was styled similar to the 2002 Volkswagen Magellan concept car. Wiggle 5 used a Toyota-designed steering wheel similar to that used in the Sienna and Camry.
The Australian-edition 4x2 and 4x4 were powered by a SAIC-Mitsubishi-sourced 2.4L 4G69 4-cylinder petrol engine (100 kW, 200 Nm) mated to a 5-speed manual gearbox. Initially, the V240 were only available as 4-door, 5-seat double cabs in 4x2 and 4x4 drivetrain. The standard equipment for this generation included dual front airbags, ABS, air-conditioning, 16-inch alloy wheels, central locking, EBD, front fog lights, engine immobiliser, disc/drum brakes, leather seats, power mirrors/ steering/windows, and radio CD with six speakers.
In 2010, the Wingle 3/V240 was replaced by a single-cab pickup with an aluminium tray.
Wingle 5 (2010-present)
Wingle 5 was released in 2010, powered by a 2.0L turbodiesel common-rail engine (105 kW, 305 Nm). It was released in Australia in 2011 but retained the 2.4L engine of the previous generation. It was available as single and double cabs. Many markets modified it to serve several purposes, such as ambulance and recreational vehicles or mini RV.
Wingle 6 (2014-present)
The Wingle 6 was introduced in 2014. Some of the new features included LED headlights, reversing camera, rear differential lock and also parking sensors. It came with the same 2.0L diesel engine used in the Wingle 5 and the 2.4L petrol engine used in the Wingle 3.
Wingle 7 (2018-present)
The Wingle 7 debuted in 2018, September. It may be made available in Australia in the near future. At the moment, if you need auto parts for your V240 or would like to find buyers for it, you can always reach out to us at Carpart.com.au.
