Mercedes-Benz CLC-Class

The Mercedes-Benz CLC-Class is a variant of the C-Class, separated into its class. It had its introduction at the 2008 Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Berlin and was in production from 2008 to 2011.

While the German automaker manufactured it based on the W203 platform, the CLC facelift updated its exterior to look more like a W204 series C-Class. It carried over the steering wheel from the SLK-Class and rode on a revised suspension. On the exterior, it displayed only the roof, doors, and quarter panels from the C-Class Sport coupé, while the interior mostly copied it.

It got a mixed reception as the W203 platform was not well suited for a sporty car. Daimler AG decided that the production of CLC-Class would cease in 2011, and the general idea of this class would return to the C-class, with the W204 based C-Class getting a traditional coupé for 2012.

CLC-Class came with Standard, SE, SE Panorama, Sport and Sport Panorama trim levels.

Standard features include ABS, alarm, alloy wheels, audio remote, body-coloured bumpers, CD multichanger, climate control, cruise control, driver/passenger/side airbags, electric mirrors, folding rear seats, electric windows, front fog lights, heated mirrors, height-adjustable driver’s seat, Isofix child seat anchor points, parking sensors, PAS, remote locking, service indicator, sports seats, steering wheel rake adjustment, steering wheel reach adjustment, and traction control.

Optional features include CD, metallic paint, partial leather seat trim, and space-saver spare wheel.

SE package comes with partial leather seat trim and space saver spare wheel, with an optional CD.

SE Panorama package comes with partial leather seat trim and space saver spare wheel, CD and panoramic roof.

The powertrain for the CLC-Class features a range of inline-four and V6 engines. Petrol engines came in the range from 1.6L and 95kW up to 3.5L and 200kW. Diesel engines were limited to 2.2L with a power output of 90kW or 110kW.

In Australia, only the CLC200 Kompressor was available, with a 1.8L 16V I4 supercharged engine, which came with an option of either a 5-speed automatic or 6-speed manual transmission. It had a power output of 135kW (191hp).
