Nissan Pintara
Nissan Australia manufactured the Nissan Pintara for six years from 1986 to 1992.
First Generation (R31)
The first generation was produced from 1986-1990. It was a compact family car based on the Nissan Skyline which replaced the Nissan Bluebird (910). It was offered as either a station wagon or sedan and came with a single fuel-injected 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine. The engine produced 78 kW at 5,200 rpm and 160 N.m at 3,200 rpm torque.
The R31 Pintara came in four specifications; the GLi, GX, Executive, and GXE. For the GX nad GXE sedans, a TRX body kit was offered. The body kit consisted of alloy wheels, rear spoiler side skirts, and low profile tires among others.
Second Generation (U12)
The second generation was manufactured from 1989-1992. One interesting fact about this model was that it was a front-wheel-drive at a time when Australia’s cars were predominantly rear wheel. However, the model would undergo a body and chassis retightening after its poor performance during its local testing. The car featured a 2.0-liter CA20E inline-four engine that produced 83 kW at 5,200 rpm and 168 N.m at 4,200 rpm torque.
However, the T, TRX and Ti models were fitted with a 2.4-liter CA20E inline-four engine that produced 96kW at 5,600 rpm and 189 N.m at 2,700 rpm. The engine in these three models was equipped with an ECCS and featured ignition timing control.
