Opel Insignia / Holden Insignia

The Opel Insignia represents a large compact crossover estate manufactured by the Opel from 2008. It was based on the Epsilon II platform as 4-door saloon/fastback, 5-door estate and 5-door crossover estate (Country Tourer) with a front-engine, front-wheel or four-wheel drive layout. 

In 2012 the Opel Insignia appeared in Australia as a mid-sized wagon or sedan. Within the sedan body-type, there were four trim levels, namely the base, CDTi, CDTi Select, and Select. All come with the same basic equipment, which includes: 

Airbags Package (dual front, head, side front), ABS, Auto Climate Control with Dual Temp Zones, Alarm System/Remote Anti Theft, Adjustable Steering Wheel - Tilt & Telescopic, 17-Inch Alloy Wheels, Cruise Control, Daytime Running Lights - LED, Dusk-Sensing Headlights, EBD, ESP, Front Fog Lights, Heated Front Seats, Hill Holder, Engine Immobiliser, Leather Steering Wheel, Leather Upholstery, Multi-Function Steering Wheel, Mobile Phone Connectivity, Parking Distance Control (rear and front), Power front seats, Power Mirrors/Steering/Windows, Radio CD with 7 Speakers, Rain-Sensing Wipers, Seatbelts with Pretensioners (front), Trip Computer, Traction Control System 

Additional features for the other trims include 19-Inch Alloy Wheels, Rear Spoiler, Sat Nav, Sport Seats, Sports Suspension, Ventilated Front Seats, Xenon Headlights.

The sedan’s engine options are 2.0L petrol and diesel engines paired with 6-speed automatic transmissions differentiating engine power:

The wagon body-type had four trim levels, namely, CDTi Select Sports Tourer, CDTi Sports Tourer, Select Sports Tourer and Sports Tourer featuring the same equipment and powertrain options as the sedan. 

In 2013, the Insignia OPC manufactured in Melbourne was revealed as a mid-size sedan with an all-wheel-drive system. It was fitted with a high-performance strut front suspension that helps reduce torque steer as well as FlexRide adaptive suspension allowing the driver to choose one of three drive modes Opc, Sport and Normal. 

The Opel Insignia OPC featured the same equipment as the 2012-Insignia, but the powertrain option includes a 2.8L petrol engine producing 239kW and 435 Nm of torque paired with a 6-speed automatic transmission. 

Under Euro NCAP testing, the Insignia was rated with 5 stars achieving 94% for adult occupant protection and 79% for child occupant protection. Likewise, it scored 35.16/37 in ANCAP's testing, which is equivalent to a 5-star rating for adult occupant protection.

In 2015, the rebadged version of the Opel Insignia was revealed in Australia under the Holden marque. It was also a mid-size sedan with an all-wheel-drive system having HiPerStrut and the FlexRide dampers with three settings Standard, Sport and VXR. 

From 2015 to 2018, the VXR was the only available trim level in Australia. It featured, among the most notable equipment, the following:

The only powertrain option available was a 2.8L petrol engine producing 239kW and 435 Nm of torque paired with a 6-speed automatic transmission.

According to Euro NCAP testing, the Holden Insignia VXR received 94% adult occupant protection rating and 79% child occupant protection rating, which equals a 5-star rating. 

In 2017 at the International Motor Fair in Belgrade, the second generation of Opel Insignia was released which is a rebadged version of the Holden Commodore produced by the Opel. It is a large family car with a 5-door liftback and station wagon body-style offered with 4 or 6-cylinder options and a front-wheel-drive as well as an all-wheel-drive layout. 

The ZB Commodore is available in a hatchback and wagon body-type, and it offered LT, RS, RS-V, VXR, Calais and Calais V variants.

The RS package adds 18-Inch Alloy Wheels, Body Kit, Blind Spot Monitoring, Rear Cross-Traffic Alert, Rear Spoiler, and Sport Seats.

The RS-V and RS-V (5YR) packages add Adaptive Headlights, Ambient Interior Lighting, Alloy Pedals, Digital Audio Broadcast Radio +, Heated Front Seats, Head-Up Display, Leather Trim, Paddle Shifters on Steering Wheel, Satellite Navigation, Sports Steering Wheel, and Wireless Phone Charge.

The VXR and VXR (5YR) packages add 20-Inch Alloy Wheels, Cruise Control Intelligent/Active, Floor Mats (front & rear), Heated Rear Seats, LED Headlights, Leather Trim Special, Massage Function on Driver Seat, Performance Brakes, Power front seat Driver/memory, Power Mirrors With Memory, Power Sunroof, Surround Camera System, Premium Sound System, and Ventilated Front Seats.
