The Peugeot 4008 is a compact SUV designed by Cristian Gudima, introduced in September of 2011. It had its debut at the Geneva Motor Show in 2012 alongside Peugeot 208. Production started in 2012 and ended in 2017 with the second-generation Peugeot 3008 succeeding it. There are plans to reintroduce the 4008 with a refreshed body style in 2020, and Peugeot may decide to continue its lineage into a second generation.
The 4008 has a front-engine, four-wheel-drive layout and is based on the Mitsubishi ASX platform, made in collaboration with Mitsubishi and shared with Mitsubishi ASX and Citroën C4 Aircross. While the Citroën was available worldwide, the Peugeot 4008 was sold in a limited number in Europe, South America, and Asia, as well as New Zealand and Australia.
It was available in Active (4x2), Active (4x4), and Allure (4x4) trim levels.
The Active trim levels act as Base equipment packages and include the following:

The Allure trim level adds 18-inch alloy wheels, heated front seats, leather upholstery, power front seats, and Xenon headlights.
The 4008 came with a single engine option, which was a 2.0L inline-four petrol engine producing 110 kW at 6000rpm and 197 Nm of torque at 4200rpm, paired with a CVT automatic transmission in the Active (4x2) and Allure (4x4) trim, and a 5-speed manual gearbox in the Active (4x4) trim.
There are talks about an updated coupe-styled version coming up in 2020, which Peugeot intends to compete with Toyota C-HR.
