Peugeot began producing the 5008 in Sochaux in France from 2009 to the present day as a 5-door compact MPV and a 5-door crossover SUV along with five and seven-seat versions available.
The First Generation (2009-2016)
The first-generation Peugeot 5008 was launched in 2008, with sales commencing in 2009. It was based on the PSA PF 2 platform and shares structures and parts with the first-generation Citroën C4 Grand Picasso and was available as a 5-door compact MPV with a front-engine, front-wheel-drive layout.
In Australia, the 5008 came in 2013, selling until 2015. Two trim levels were offered, namely, the Active 1.6T and Active 2.0HDi.

- Active 2.0 HDi, 2.0L diesel engine producing 120kW and 340Nm of torque paired with a 6-speed automatic transmission
The first generation of Peugeot 5008 received MPV of the Year award by the What Car? magazine in 2010.
In the Euro NCAP testing, it received a full 5-star rating, representing 89% for adult occupant protection and 79% for child occupant protection.
The Second Generation (2017-present)
At the 2016 Paris Motor Show, the second generation of the Peugeot 5008 was presented. It is assembled in Rennes in France by PSA Rennes. Based on the PSA EMP2 platform, the 5008 is offered as a 5-door mid-size crossover SUV with seven seats.
In Australia, it has been available from 2018 offering four trim levels, namely, the ALLURE, CROSSWAY, GT and GT LINE.

The GT and GT LINE trims add Ambient Interior Lighting, 19-Inch Alloy Wheels, Chrome Exterior Mirrors, Fog Lights - LED, Floor Mats - Front & Rear, Heated Front Seats, Hands-Free Smart Tailgate, Kerb View Function, LED Headlights, Leather Steering Wheel Special, Massage Function on Driver Seat, Power Front Seat Driver 8 Way, Power Mirrors With Folding, and Tyre Repair Kit.
These are the engine options available in Australia:
- ALLURE, CROSSWAY, and GT LINE - 1.6L petrol engine producing 121kW and 240 Nm of torque paired with a 6-speed automatic transmission
- GT - 2.0L diesel engine producing 133kW and 400Nm of torque paired with a 6-speed automatic transmission
The second-generation Peugeot 5008 received all 5 stars in the ANCAP safety rating which includes 32.89 points out of 38 for adult occupant protection and 41.98 points out of 49 for child occupant protection.
