Since the start of the pandemic last year, automotive supply chains have suffered from massive disruptions. Most carmakers have been forced to delay the release of new models, much to the disappointment of enthusiasts in Australia and worldwide.
On a positive note, what we see now is that those supply chains are recovering fast in 2021. An increasing number of new car models are arriving in Australia this year, giving us more to look forward to.
This article will look at the most interesting models that we can expect to see coming in the country within the year. We've highlighted the best new models coming from our featured top brands, and we're even looking at two 4-wheelers as well.

10 Top Cars Coming in 2021 & the Month They’re Expected to Arrive
1. Audi A3
When to expect it: June
To kick off this list, we’re going to look at a few of what Audi has to offer us this year. Coming up around June is the A3, Audi’s fourth-generation sportback.
The Audi A3 was first revealed last year and is already available in certain parts of the world. Understandably, Australia will only see it in June of this year. They’ll arrive in a few different variants, though all of them will have a max output of 228kW of power and 400 Nm of torque.
2. Audi Q2
When to expect it: Sometime mid-year
Another one from Audi coming out this year is the Audi Q2 facelift. The Q2 is Audi’s compact SUV model, which comes with a brand new exterior style and loads of new tech inside.
Very little is known about the car’s specs, though one variant offers a maximum output of 110kW of power and 250 Nm of torque. That version will carry a 1.5-litre turbo, four-cylinder petrol engine.
3. BMW iX
When to expect it: Second half of the year
BMW’s electric SUV, the iX, is also set to come out in the second half of 2021. Online orders with a $500 deposit have already been open for quite some time. However, BMW has not yet released total prices and specs for the iX.
So far, what’s known is that the BMW iX can go from zero to 100 km/h in 5 seconds, and it also has a range of over 600 kilometres.
4. BMW iX3
When to expect it: Sometime mid-year
The iX is the bigger EV, while the iX3 is the slightly smaller, mid-sized electric SUV to come out of BMW. It’s expected to arrive in Australia towards the middle of the year.
The carmaker claims that the iX3 can do a 0-100 km/h in 6.8 seconds and has a range of 460 kilometres.
5. Chevrolet Corvette
When to expect it: Towards the end of the year
Chevy’s latest Corvette is also on its way, making 2021 an exciting year for car enthusiasts around the world. What’s known is that it’ll be available towards the end of the year.
This will be the fastest Corvette yet, capable of accelerating from 0 to 100 km/h in just 3 seconds. The V8 engine offers 370 kW of power and 637 Nm of torque.
6. Chevrolet Silverado 2500
When to expect it: Still pending
Okay, so Chevy’s other offering, the Silverado 2500, doesn’t have a confirmed release date. What’s known is that it’s supposed to be available in Australia sometime this year. The 2021 version will have a V8 engine with a maximum output of 313 kW of power and 624 Nm of torque.
7. Hyundai Ioniq 5
When to expect it: Third quarter of 2021
Many electric vehicles are coming out this year, and the Aussie-tuned Hyundai Ioniq 5 is a perfect example of that. Due sometime in the third quarter of 2021, this all-electric midsize SUV can do 0-100 km/h in 5.2 seconds. It has a maximum output of 225 kW of power and 605 Nm of torque.
8. Hyundai Tucson
When to expect it: May
Details about the Hyundai Tucson are still a bit vague, though it should be available come May. The base version of this midsize SUV (which is a petrol car, by the way) has a maximum output of 115 kW of power and 192 Nm of torque.
9. Isuzu MU-X
When to expect it: Second half of the year
By the second half, we should be seeing the release of the Isuzu MU-X, the next-gen ute-derived Isuzu four-wheel-drive. It’ll have plenty of upgraded tech in the interior, including lots of driver-assist features.
More importantly, though, the 4x4 wagon will carry a 3.0-litre turbo diesel engine with a maximum output of 140 kW of power and 450 Nm of torque.
10. Peugeot 3008 Plug-In Hybrid
When to expect it: Second half of 2021
Peugeot’s 3008 Plug-In Hybrid SUV was set to be released in the first half of this year but was pushed back for much later. This is not surprising, considering the same setback that affected auto manufacturers globally.
You can expect the Peugeot 3008 to have a maximum output of 121 kW of power and 240 Nm of torque in some versions.
