The 10 Fastest 'Fast & Furious' Cars

From the moment the first action-packed Fast and Furious movie hit the silver screen in 2001, it had already kept its fan base glued to the screens, and this went on with every release of the film for over 18 years. The American media franchise had not only been about hair-raising chases and crime plots, but also served as a launching pad for countless high-performance vehicles. We’ve picked out the best and the fastest of these cars. Here they are:

1. 1968 Dodge Charger R/T

This fearsome car appeared in 2015 in the Fast & Furious 7, where we saw it jump from a jumbo jet in one of its high-flying stunts. It has a twin-turbo 9.4-litre HEMI engine rated at 1491 kW and accelerates from 0-100 km/h in 6.5 seconds with a maximum speed of 412 km/h.

2. 1967 Plymouth GTX

This 1967 beast made its debut in The Fate of the Furious (2017). It's powered by a supercharged 7.2-litre V8 engine paired to a 4-speed manual transmission, producing an ominous 1491 kW of power and 2190 Nm of torque. It has a top speed of 433 km/h. It accelerates from 0 to 161 km/h (0-100 mph) in 4.9 seconds.

3. 2010 Koenigsegg CCXR Edition

The car premiered in The Fast Five in 2011. Powering it is a 4.8-litre V8 engine producing 759 kW and a torque of 644 Nm. It has a top speed exceeding 402 km/h and can accelerate from 0-100 km/h in 6.5 seconds.

4. 2011 Bugatti Veyron

Bugatti cars are known for their performance and sheer beauty. The Furious 7 movie, which premiered in 2015 (the same year that the production of the Veyron ended), had to include this one. This two-door luxury coupe is equipped with an 8-litre quad-turbocharged W-16 engine which produces 736 kW of power and a torque of 1250 Nm. Its powerful engine propels it from 0-100 km/h in 2.5 seconds with its top speed being 407 km/h.

5. 2015 Lykan Hypersport

This Lebanese limited-production supercar (last produced in 2017) comes fitted with a 3.7-litre twin-turbocharged flat-six engine mated to either a 6-speed sequential manual or a 7-speed dual-clutch manual transmission. The engine produces peak power of 582 kW at 7,100 rpm and a torque of 960 Nm at 4,000rpm. The car will go from 0-100 km/h in just 2.8 seconds. It is claimed to have a top speed of 395 km/h, depending on the gear ratio setup.

6. Lamborghini LP640

The Lamborghini Murciélago was produced between 2001 and 2010 as a two-door coupe and roadster. A 6.5-litre V12 engine has a peak power of 470 kW at 8000 rpm and a torque of 600 Nm. It accelerates to 100 km/h from standstill in 3.3 seconds and attains a top speed of 330 km/h.
