Car enthusiasts the world over have been hit by disappointment after disappointment. It seemed like most of the annual auto shows or motoring events have either been postponed or cancelled, leaving us with nothing much to look forward to. But don’t throw away your car events calendar for 2021 just yet!
In Australia and beyond, there are still plenty of car-related shows and motoring events set to continue as planned.
In this article, we'll look at 5 of the best car shows and motoring events to watch out for in what's left of 2021. Three of them are local Aussie events, and we've included two international events as well.
Let’s get started!
Australian Auto Shows and Motoring Events 2021
First of all, let's look at what's going on locally. Keep in mind that these are just a few examples of the car shows and motoring events you might experience this year. There are plenty more happening all over the country, catering to every imaginable segment of the car world.
Hot Rod and Custom Auto Expo (May)

For those into hot rods and other custom cars, the Hot Rod and Custom Auto Expo is happening in May. This event is going to take place at the Rosehill Gardens Racecourse in Western Sydney.
What can you expect at this event? Well, for one, you’ll see all elite level cars and bikes that will be competing for various awards. Besides that, there’ll be plenty of custom cars and bikes put on display from personal collections.
To top it all off, there will even be the Miss Hot Rod and Custom Pageant going on as part of the event.
Motorclassica (October)

If classic cars are more your thing, then you’ll want to check out Motorclassica happening in October. The Australian International Concours d’Elegance & Classic Motor Show is also taking place at the Royal Exhibition Building in Carlton, Victoria.
A wide range of classic cars will be on display, each competing for various awards across several classes. Judges will recognise the best vehicles in various categories, including the Restoration of the Year, Best of the Show, and the People's Choice Award based on votes cast at the show.
Formula 1 Rolex Australian Grand Prix (November)

Besides auto shows, motoring events are also taking place this year. Most notable among them is probably the Formula 1 Rolex Australian Grand Prix. That race will take place at the Albert Park Grand Prix Circuit in Melbourne later in November.
Tickets aren’t yet on sale, but you can register using the link above. The organisers will send out notifications when those tickets become available, presumably much closer to the event date. The F1 2021 season has already blazed the tracks in two Grand Prix rounds held in Bahrain and Imola, Italy.
International Auto Shows and Automotive Events 2021
Even though international travel is still uncertain, several international events have NOT been cancelled or postponed in 2021. The situation is volatile and all that might change, but here are two events you can look forward to.
London Classic Car Show (June)

Here's another classic car show to consider, this time happening at Syon Park in London. Expect to travel through time with all the cars on exhibit, representing every decade from the oldest automobiles through American cars from the 50s, endurance vehicles from the 70s, and more!
Plus, you'll even see modern supercars at the event.
No doubt, this is a great car show to look forward to if you're an enthusiast of classic vehicles and how they've evolved through the decades.
LeMans 24 Hours 2021 (August)

International races have also suffered from postponements and cancellations, but it seems the all-time favourite LeMans 24 Hours will go on as scheduled in August. The event, which will occur at the Circuit de la Sarthe in Le Mans, France, will be the 89th instalment of the LeMans endurance races.
As usual, it’ll take place at the Circuit de la Sarthe in Le Mans, France.
Tips for Attending Auto Shows and Motoring Events in 2021
As the pandemic goes on, the rules and regulations about attending public events keep changing. Before travelling to any car-related shows in Australia or overseas, always be sure to keep yourself informed about any travel restrictions, lockdowns, or things of that nature.
1. Plan around Quarantines
The rules are also ever-evolving for interstate and international travels. It’s important to prepare for the quarantine requirements in the area you’re travelling to. For instance, some countries may require you to quarantine for a week or two after you’ve landed on their shores.
That can be a frustrating (and potentially expensive) part of your trip to international car-related shows, and that’s why you must factor it into your travel plans.
2. Subscribe to the Event Organiser's Social Media
It would be wise to subscribe to the websites and social media channels of the events you’re planning to attend. That way, you'll never miss any critical updates, especially if delays or cancellations happen.
Tip: Big events will have pages on all major social media channels like Facebook, Twitter, and even Instagram. Follow them all, and turn on Post Notifications so that you'll know whenever updates are released.
3. Regulate Yourself at the Event
The event will undoubtedly have its SOPs and safety protocols, which might include social distancing and mask requirements. Still, some events might not be as stringent as others, which is why you'll want to take matters into your own hands.
Should an event have lax crowd management systems, make sure you take care of yourself. Wear a mask, use hand sanitiser, and avoid overly crowded sections of the event.
Take good care of yourself, and you’ll be able to enjoy the event without any worries!
