What Is a CVT Transmission?

Here are some of the benefits you get from a continuous variable transmission (CVT):
- Motor Control: You'll enjoy a very intuitive transmission that reacts to the slightest pressure on the pedal.
- Efficiency is phenomenal: You'll get the most distance per litre that you pump from the bowser.
- Smooth drive: It automatically adjusts to your driving, no vibrations as you shift gears.
CONS of CVT
Just like everything in life, there are a few disadvantages that you need to be aware of:
- Can be noisy: It produces a loud noise especially when accelerating. It's noisier than an automatic, that's for sure.
- Not as fuel efficient as manual transmissions: While it's definitely more economical to run than a standard automatic transmission, it can't beat the efficiency of manual transmissions.
- Takes the fun out of driving: The seamless drive that is its main advantage also proves to be its disadvantage. People who love sporty driving say that CVT cars are less engaging. Well, it only confirms what they say that you can't everyone!
